The impacts of professional identity regarding teachers in rehabilitation facilities on the efficiency of the organization

Abstract
The purpose of this study is that we look into the level of professional identity targeting teachers in rehabilitation facilities for the disabled and inquire how professional identity affects the efficiency of the organization. Total 270 questionnaires were sent out to the teachers who are working in 15 facilities selected among rehabilitation facilities in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. 249 questionnaires of these were returned, These 234 questionnaires were practically used for analysis. The data processing of this study was SPSS for Window 12.0 and AMOS 4.0 program. When analyzing statistical data, level of significance was set a=.05. According to the procedure the results vile got were as follows. First, the teachers working at rehabilitation facilities relatively high marked in professional identity and beliefs about self-regulation was the highest, followed by the vocation, a belief about autonomy, the applicability of professional organization as criteria and a belief in public service. Regarding professional identity based on the general characteristics of teachers surveyed, there was a meaningful difference in the gender, marital condition and how many times they changed jobs. Therefore, including the belief about public service to the teachers working at the facilities as their working, is helpful both pubic and the workers and the ideal of service for clients and public is the immediate objective as professional persons, we should Improve ¡Ìhe belief about public service through education system like regular schooling. Second, job satisfaction of the teachers surveyed relatively high marked, besides, intrinsic satisfaction was higher than extrinsic one. Job satisfaction in accordance with the general characteristics showed a meaningful difference in only gender and other characteristics did not show any meaningful difference. Third, the organization commitment showed normal levels and affective involvement marked higher comparing norms one. There were no meaningful differences in the organization commitment regarding the general characteristics of the teachers surveyed. The job performance of rehabilitation teacher relatively high marked. The teacher`s job performance was highest in forming the relationship with clients and followed doing their job, managing their work, specialized knowledge regarding their work and attitude. The job performance related to the general characteristics showed a meaningful difference in work experience and annual salary. The changing job according to the general characteristics of the teachers showed normal levels and the characteristics showed a meaningful difference were age, marital status and education level. Finally, as results of the correlation between professional identity and organizational effectiveness, it showed relatively high correlation between identity and job satisfaction, job satisfaction and organization commitment but between identity and organization commitment relatively showed low correlation. The factors influencing organizational effectiveness were professional identity and gender. Therefore, because the higher the professional identity will improve organizational effectiveness, the following efforts were required to improve professional identity: expanding their meeting, strengthening formal education, expanding educational opportunities, improving working conditions and environments.
